Johann van Zyl
Johann became chief executive of complex care provider Cornerstone Healthcare in 2018, when he was instrumental in the management buy-in of the group backed by an equity partner. He initiated the buy-in of two Hampshire-based nursing homes to form the 154-bed Cornerstone Healthcare. Since then, via a buy and build strategy, Cornerstone has acquired another home in Surrey increasing bed numbers to 204. Cornerstone is developing two more care homes which will provide 354 beds. In 2012, Johann moved to the UK from Tanzania to become chief executive of specialist neurological care and rehabilitation provider PJ Care. Johann trained as an accountant in South Africa and started his career as an entrepreneur responsible for the formation of a bank and insurance company and he was also chief executive of a charity foundation building houses for the homeless across South Africa.
